In 1941, Raul and Mary Molina—Papa and Momma to us—opened their first Mexican restaurant, originally named the Old Monterey, at 1919 W. Gray in Houston. At that time, there were only a handful of Mexican restaurants in Houston.
Eight decades later, Papa is remembered as a pioneer of Tex-Mex cuisine, and the restaurant, now known as Molina's Cantina, is proud to be the oldest and one of the most beloved locally owned and operated Tex-Mex restaurants in Houston.
