In 1941, Raul and Mary Molina—Papa and Momma to us—opened their first Mexican restaurant, originally named the Old Monterey, at 1919 W. Gray in Houston. At that time, it was the only Tex-Mex in Houston.
Eight decades later, Papa is remembered as a pioneer of Tex-Mex cuisine, and the restaurant, now known as Molina's Cantina, is proud to be the oldest and one of the most beloved locally owned and operated Tex-Mex restaurants in Houston.
